Hello, and welcome to a weekend of enchantment in the
Land of Enchantment - New Mexico, USA...
I decided to take a little weekend car camping road trip south of
Colorado and into the Land of Enchantment...call it Kimmie's Spring Break.
However, I would wait far into April before venturing into car camping
in New Mexico (brrrrr - with my beanie, fleece, and layers of
down and yummy
blankets.
My nose was so cold.
I started my journey in Downtown Sante Fe...it was a
literal ghost town. Mixed with the COVID-19 restrictions, the Capitol
was blocked off by armed guards all through downtown.
But, look at the architectural vibe...I dig it. Adobe style...
Oh look at me Geo cashing in on the "Oldest Church in America." Cha-ching!
A nice treasure tucked in downtown Sante Fe is this gem:
Conveniently located a few blocks away...Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. She's the artist who turned flower paintings into $130 millions dollar cash-ins. Her paintings all have a subliminal image.
Yep, I should definitely be painting some flowers right now...(rolling the dice).
Eeeeeee pee breaks!
I fully prided myself in finding the most scenic pee pee places:
Los Alamos..."Where Discoveries Are Made" -- a lot of secret squirrel shit goes on here...
The rabbit hole runs deep...
Bandelier National Park...Beeeeeyutiful drive through a National Park with cave dwellings - let me take you on this guided tour
(missed my calling as a Park Ranger Welcome Committee)
Chevy on a Stick - this was on the list of things to see on Trip Advisor. I don't get it.
Ahh, so camel rock - right across from the casino named after this dromedary.
Very much resembling a camel...
Desert and jet vapor (or chem) trails...
Albuquerque, NM
Sandia Peak Tramway
Longest aerial tramway in America
Reaching the 10,378-foot crest of the Sandia Mountains, an 11,000 square mile panoramic view awaits you.
But can you hone in on why I was slightly nervous...already having a wee bit of a fear of heights.
Scientific diagnosis - acrophobia
Yes, so this mechanical engineer was still making some final "tweaks" before the first ride up!
Ski slope!
View from the tram
A cross country skier...
Blue skies
Next...on to something "musical"...any guesses?
Musical Highway on Route 66, installed in 1964 in Albuquerque, NM!
I'm having trouble uploading my videos, but they will be on my YouTube channel sooner or later.
But I found this one...
The road is engineered to play "America the Beautiful" as you drive 45 miles per hour...
Eeeeeeeeee!
Random shot of my road trip views...yes, some Easy Rider vibes...
Or Thelma and Louis convertible vibes....
A wee little gorge outside of Taos, New Mexico...
A picture cannot possible capture the grandeur of this moment...
GULP! That is along ways down...
Okay one more shot of the Rio Grande Gorge from the bridge...it spans 1,280 feet, and is the 5th-highest bridge in America at 650 feet above the water. This bridge was featured in "Terminator: Salvation," "Natural Born Killers," "Wild Hogs," and "White Sands."
Have you ever seen a series called "Breaking Bad?"
Guess who found Walter White's house?
People kept asking if I wanted some Blue Crystal...
Q is for quick stop and Quotton Candy sunsets...
And, to finish my "Breaking Bad" tour, I went through the car wash at...
*drum roll please*
Building anticipation...
Walter White's carwash business...
But back to his house. I was told this lady is nice...buuuut...
She waits 'til you walk up to ask her about taking a photo with her likeness in it...
And, she'll shout: "It's only a house...why do you want pictures??" And, then when you ask to confirm it was in "Breaking Bad," she says: "it's MYYY house." And, then you see the sign right behind her that instructs people to take pictures from ACROSS the street. Keep your distance from this crazy bitch.
Mmmmm, pretty rocks...
Pretty rocks...(continued)
Welcome to Taos, NM
Great for people watching if you enjoy hot men who are a mixture of artisan and Easy Rider...
Thanks for stopping in to the Colorado Kimmie channel today...
I hope you take some fun trips this Spring in this beautiful Country...
Kimmie
