Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

 Good morning!

I had the opportunity to visit Snooze in Denver, Colorado this morning.  This restaurant was featured on DDD by Guy Fieri.  Sadly our server didn’t know that bit of trivia, and I wanted to obviously try what he had.  However, she recommended the bennys (eggs Benedict) and told me I could mix and match two from the menu to get a better experience and flavor combo of the menu.  And here were her recommending that didn’t disappoint, coupled with a grapefruit mimosa:

I highly recommend this establishment if you’re visiting Colorado’s front range and want to enjoy a bougie brunch.  Great service, cool atmosphere, and wonderful service.  Plus, the tshirts are fabulous!

Dragon Boat Festival 2024

Sunday I joined some friends for Denver’s Dragon Boat Festival at Sloan’s Lake in Denver, Colorado.  Denver boasts the largest Dragon Boat Festival in the US!  🐉

Did you know Sloan’s Lake is only 3.5 feet deep?  This is why it’s so polluted.

Despite the sweltering heat, we had a blast.

Here are some photos of this year’s festivities:

The dancers taught us the cultural routines!  I worked up a little sweat!

These were some of the dragon boats on Sloan’s Lake

It took over a year to carve out this dragon boat.  These guys sell for upwards of $100k

Enjoying a light snack.  Some Colorado Palisade peaches

A little travel pillow we picked up

Strike a pose there’s nothing to it…VOGUE

With July 2024 almost in the books, cheers to August right around the corner.  I hope your month is filled with blessings and surprising new beginnings!

The Last Frontier

Our ship hit an actual iceberg in the Pacific Ocean so I kinda feel like Kate Winslet in the “Titanic,” and we were rerouted, but I had a blast visiting Alaska.  Also let’s face the cold hard facts that there was room for Jack on that life preserve.  Some of the things I loved about Alaska:

1) The open wilderness

2) The freedom

3) The seafood is fresh and excellent…mmmm salmon

4) The totem poles

5) The trains

6) Memories that leave me with, “why am I not living in Alaska, because it’s the freshest air in the world and the people are lovely, laid back, and friendly.”  And because they’re so remote, they know how to fix and build things themselves.  Genuine people are not found everywhere, but you are sure to find them in Alaska.

7) The weather is amazing.  And I dig the fashion and vibes.  Lumberjacks are hot.

8) It’s the last frontier.

Here are some pics of Seattle, the Princess cruise ship, and several Alaskan ports in May 2024.  Alaska, I’ll be back!  Also, queue Celine Dion: https://youtu.be/F2RnxZnubCM?si=OM-EvIQAOGeYwBpt
